Praise God that we finished the 2nd week of Transcribe The Word – Harvest Is Plenty Laborers Are Few David – After Gods Own Heart Bible Study and Journal!
Our group studied David who was chosen by God to also become a laborer for him. David was a young, handsome, scrawny boy who looked over his family’s sheep. He was small in statue, but mighty at heart protecting those sheep the best he knew how.
God spoke to the prophet Samuel commanding him to anoint David. His plan was set in place after God’s spirit quickly came upon him . We all know that he slayed Goliath the giant. Soon after a King was born.
David was no stranger to turmoil and hardships. He knew what it was like to suffer. He was hunted by King Saul, who only wanted to destroy him. Saul knew that David was anointed by God as the next king of Israel, however he still wanted him dead.
In Psalm 23, David speaks of how God is still with us, even when we go through trials in our lives. He openly speaks of his own shortcomings, mistakes, weaknesses and questions he faced in life. He knew what it was like to need Gods help.
His life wasn’t easy. He faced death at all times. However, God still chose him to become king over his people for forty years. David’s life is another example that we can learn from as a laborer for God.
