January has been off to a trying year. I don’t know about you, but Satan is still alive and well!
My focus for the New Year is to share God’s word more and more with you as a source of encouragement and to share God’s truth to the lost who need Him more than ever. But Satan always has another idea in mind.
Satan knows my weaknesses better than I do. Satan knows how to mess with me, just enough to turn my smile into a frown and Satan knows how to literally steal my joy.
In other words – SATAN JUST WON’T LEAVE ME ALONE!
If you feel like I do, I’m sure you can relate. Praying in the morning, late at night and reading God’s word is what God asks of us. He knows that by doing this, it gives us strength and power to overcome Satan. But I have, to be honest, sometimes it’s easier said than done.
Sometimes when we are in the midst of turmoil, frustration and chaos, it’s hard to call on the name of Jesus. The human side of us wants to lash out and fight. We want to “give the finger” and “cuss someone out.” Sometimes we want to straight kill somebody. Ok friends – let me breathe… 🙂 Lord forgive me!
But that’s how Satan will make us feel. That’s how well he does his job. And he won’t stop until he defeats you.
But I’ve got the answer that helps me keep going when I feel like giving up. Here’s God’s word on the subject that will help you too…
The Fight against Evil
10 Finally, let the mighty strength of the Lord make you strong. 11 Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil’s tricks.12 We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world.13 So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm.
14 Be ready! Let the truth be like a belt around your waist, and let God’s justice protect you like armor. 15 Your desire to tell the good news about peace should be like shoes on your feet. 16 Let your faith be like a shield, and you will be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Let God’s saving power be like a helmet, and for a sword use God’s message that comes from the Spirit.
18 Never stop praying, especially for others. Always pray by the power of the Spirit. Stay alert and keep praying for God’s people. 19 Pray that I will be given the message to speak and that I may fearlessly explain the mystery about the good news. 20 I was sent to do this work, and that’s the reason I am in jail. So pray that I will be brave and will speak as I should. Ephesians 6:10-20(CEV)
Friends, Satan won’t leave us alone because he knows we have a great work to do. He knows that when we feel defeated, it’s hard to spread the good news. He knows when we are tired from working all day, that it’s hard to read our bible, attend bible study or choir rehearsal. He knows how to pick a fight with our spouse or kids that seem to come out of thin air. He knows….
I also know that Satan is patient.
But God knows better. And because He knows better, we should do better. And when we do better, Satan has to flee…
Feel free to share this with a friend or family member that may be struggling right now! It just may be the word that they were looking for 🙂
