I almost didn’t pray that morning.
Not because I didn’t believe. But because I wasn’t sure anyone was listening anymore.
It had been one of those seasons where everything that could go wrong did. Where the prayers I’d been praying for months felt like they were hitting the ceiling and bouncing back. Where I’d watch other people get their breakthroughs and their answered prayers and their miracles — and quietly wonder why God seemed to be showing up for everyone else but me.
Have you ever been there? When you feel like God has forgotten you.
Not doubting God exactly. Just wondering if somehow, in the middle of all the people He’s taking care of — He might have lost track of you.

The Lie That Feels Like Truth When You Feel Forgotten
Here’s the thing about feeling forgotten by God — it feels so real that it becomes its own kind of truth.
You start interpreting everything through that lens. The unanswered prayer becomes proof He’s not listening. The hard season becomes proof He doesn’t care. The silence becomes proof that you — specifically you — have somehow slipped through the cracks of His attention.
And the longer the season lasts the louder that lie gets.
I know because I’ve listened to it. Longer than I want to admit.
But here’s what I’ve learned on the other side of those seasons:
Feeling forgotten is not the same as being forgotten.
And God has never once forgotten anyone He made.
What the Bible Says About Forgotten People
One of my favorite people in the Bible is Joseph.
Not because his story is easy. Because it isn’t. It’s actually one of the hardest stories in all of Scripture.
Joseph was betrayed by his own brothers. Thrown into a pit. Sold into slavery. Falsely accused. Thrown into prison. And then — just when it seemed like things might turn around — forgotten by the very person who promised to help him.
Years passed. Years.
And the Bible never records Joseph having a vision or hearing God’s voice during that time. There’s no burning bush. No angel showing up in his prison cell. No dramatic reassurance that everything was going to be okay.
Just silence. And waiting. And more silence.
And yet — in the middle of all of it — the Bible says this:
The Lord was with Joseph.
Not the Lord showed up for Joseph eventually. Not the Lord remembered Joseph after a while.
The Lord was with Joseph. Present tense. In the pit. In the prison. In the silence.
He was there the whole time.
What to Do When You Feel Forgotten
I want to give you something practical to hold onto — not because feelings disappear when we have the right information, but because truth gives us somewhere to stand when feelings are lying to us.
Tell God exactly how you feel. Don’t dress it up. Don’t make it sound more spiritual than it is. Tell Him — God I feel like You’ve forgotten me. I feel invisible. I feel like everyone else is getting what they prayed for and I’m still waiting and I don’t understand.
He already knows. But saying it out loud to Him keeps you in the relationship instead of pulling away from it.
Look for where He has been faithful before. When Joseph finally came out of prison — he could look back and see God’s hand in every single moment that had felt random and painful. He could connect the dots. You can’t always connect them in the middle. But you can remember times He was faithful before — and let that be your anchor right now.
Refuse to make permanent decisions based on temporary feelings. Feeling forgotten in this season does not mean you are forgotten. Feeling distant from God does not mean God has moved. Feelings are real — but they are not the final word. Don’t walk away from your faith because of a feeling that is lying to you.
Hold on one more day. Joseph’s breakthrough came on what was probably an ordinary Tuesday. No warning. No buildup. Just an ordinary day that turned into everything changing. Your ordinary Tuesday is coming. Hold on one more day.
He Has Not Forgotten You
I want to close with something God said through the prophet Isaiah to people who felt exactly like you might feel right now.
People who said — The Lord has forsaken me. The Lord has forgotten me.
And God’s response was this:
Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you. See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. — Isaiah 49:15-16 (NIV)
Engraved on the palms of His hands.
Not written in pencil. Not typed in a database somewhere. Engraved. Permanent. Unforgettable.
That is you. That has always been you.
He has not forgotten your name. He has not lost track of your prayers. He has not moved on to people who deserve His attention more than you do.
He is with you. Right now. In this season. In this silence.
Just like He was with Joseph.
And your ordinary Tuesday is coming.
